The short version

What we collect

Your account. When you sign in with Apple we receive your name and an email address, which may be Apple's private relay address. Your account has an ID that links your data together.

Your profile. The name, photo and interests you choose to add.

What you do in the app. Plans you host or join, messages in plan chats, places you save, ratings of past plans, and the reports and blocks you make. Joins, ratings and saves shape the "For you" suggestions.

Location. With your permission, your phone's location centers the map and finds things nearby. The area you're looking at is sent to our server to find nearby plans and events. It isn't stored with your account, and we don't keep a location history. You can pick a city instead of sharing your location.

Notifications. If you allow notifications, we store your device's push token so we can tell you about join requests, messages and plan changes.

Age. Pookster is for adults 18 and over. Where available, the app asks Apple to confirm you're 18 or over. Your age itself is never stored or sent to us.

Crash reports. If the app crashes or hangs, a report goes to Sentry so we can fix it. Reports don't include your name, email, IP address or screenshots.

On this iPhone. Your six most recent searches, saved-place favorites, Been there marks and private notes are kept on this device. Recent searches can be cleared in the search screen. Notes and organization are separate for each signed-in account and are removed from this device when you delete that account. Searches made without an account are cleared when you sign in or out. They aren't shared with hosts or guests. See "AI suggestions" below for searches sent to an AI service.

Who can see what

AI suggestions

AI suggestions are off unless you turn them on in Profile. When they're on, the plan details, search text and place names involved are sent to Anthropic, which runs the Claude AI model, to write suggestions. Your name and email aren't sent. On phones with Apple Intelligence, suggestions are written on the phone itself and nothing is sent.

Companies that help run Pookster

These companies process data only to provide their service to us:

To find places, events and photos, the app and our server send search areas and place names, never your name or account, to Apple Maps, Ticketmaster, Google (place photos), Wikimedia Commons and public event calendars. When your phone loads a photo or calendar directly from one of these sites, that site sees your IP address, as with any website.

How long we keep it

Your choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or get a copy of your data, or to appeal a decision about a request. Email us at pookster.app@gmail.com and we'll respond within 45 days.

Children

Pookster is only for adults 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone younger. If the age check shows someone is under 18, their account is deleted.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit, and database rules limit each person to what they're allowed to see. No system is perfectly secure, so please tell us if you find a problem.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date above. If a change affects how we use data you've already given us, we'll tell you in the app first.
